Laura Rutledge did not get a weekend off. She got two college football stops and a storm rolling through the region in between. That is the job for the people who make the broadcast work, and it usually stays out…
ESPN broadcaster Laura Rutledge drew widespread praise after driving overnight through Category 2 Hurricane Isaias to complete back-to-back assignments. Rutledge participated in the University of Florida Homecoming festivities in Gainesville on Friday, October 9, before driving roughly seven hours to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to work the sideline for the Georgia versus Alabama game on Saturday, October 10.
Rutledge served as Grand Marshal and co-hosted the Gator Growl event alongside Brandon Spikes before handling sideline duties with Holly Rowe the following night. The demanding schedule reflects her extensive broadcast responsibilities, which also include hosting NFL Live alongside various college football and NFL coverage roles.
