The Washington Nationals have acquired left-handed reliever Reiver Sanmartin from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for Minor League right-hander Robert Cranz. To clear a spot on their 40-man roster, the Nationals designated right-handed pitcher Kyle Nicolas for assignment.
Sanmartin, 30, posted a 3-0 record with a 4.22 ERA in 24 relief appearances for the Giants in 2026, finishing with a 1.69 ERA over his final 19 outings. The move aims to bolster a Washington bullpen that recorded MLB's third-highest ERA (4.99) last season.
