The Dallas Mavericks' plan to improve their 3-point shooting starts with Daniel Gafford. The coaching staff plans to improve his shooting, as they hope it will lead to newfound success.

The Dallas Mavericks plan to expand center Daniel Gafford's offensive role by encouraging him to shoot open three-pointers. Following a difficult 26-win season where Dallas ranked among the league's worst three-point shooting teams, new head coach Dusty May intends to utilize Gafford beyond the arc to create better floor spacing.
Gafford acknowledged the adjustment will initially feel uncomfortable but expressed confidence in adapting to the coaching staff's expectations. With Dereck Lively II sidelined, the Mavericks also anticipate offensive boosts from Kyrie Irving's return and newcomer Sergio De Larrea.
