The 2026-27 NBA season is right around the corner, and the Detroit Pistons are hard at work preparing for the grind. After finishing with the first seed in the East last season, they have ambitions of an even greater run.
Detroit Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff addressed the contract standoff with center Jalen Duren, stating he fully expects him to return. Duren missed NBA Media Day and the start of training camp while holding out for a full five-year maximum extension. Bickerstaff emphasized maintaining his relationship with Duren and preparing as if the big man will rejoin the squad soon.
According to the report, Duren was offended after Detroit offered a $200 million deal rather than a full max contract, citing his playoff struggles. Duren averaged 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game last season while helping the Pistons secure the Eastern Conference's top seed.
