The Golden State Warriors have reportedly contacted the Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, and Milwaukee Bucks to gauge interest in a trade involving center Kristaps Porzingis' contract. According to reporter Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, Porzingis is likely heading toward retirement and is expected to accept a significant buyout from his $20 million salary. Golden State seeks to use his contract as a trade exception within the next month to reinforce depth.
Golden State specifically targeted Bulls center Jalen Smith in talks, though Chicago is currently hesitant to make a deal without draft compensation. Talks with Milwaukee involving Myles Turner did not come close due to contract valuation differences, while previous interest in Pelicans players has not materialized into an agreement.
