The Story in 60 Seconds

The Golden State Warriors are expected to trade Kristaps Porzingis prior to December 16, according to a report by Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints. Porzingis, who opted out of training camp and accepted not receiving pay after seemingly deciding to retire, will not play another game for the franchise.

Golden State intends to use Porzingis' partially guaranteed two-year, $40 million contract essentially as a trade exception. Trading him by December 16 would enable the Warriors front office to aggregate any acquired player into a subsequent, larger deal ahead of the February trade deadline.
