James, Embiid, Maxey sit out 76ers’ preseason opener vs. Knicks

LeBron James, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey will sit out the Philadelphia 76ers' preseason opener against the New York Knicks. The trio are designated as healthy inactives for Monday night's game. Jaylen Brown and VJ Edgecombe are the only regular starters slated to be in the lineup for Philadelphia.

James joined the 76ers over the summer on a free-agent contract following a 45-37 season where Philadelphia was swept by the Knicks in the playoffs. Despite missing Monday's contest, James, Embiid, and the rest of the healthy roster previously participated in a public scrimmage on Saturday.
