BOSTON — Jordan Walsh got annoyed last season when the Celtics introduced him as Josh Minott before his first start at TD Garden. He used the snub as fuel and leaned into his defensive abilities to help the Celtics win…

Boston Celtics forward Jordan Walsh is entering the season focused on fulfilling the team's needs rather than simply holding onto his starting role. After signing a three-year, $15 million extension over the summer, Walsh started the first four regular-season games under head coach Joe Mazzulla alongside Derrick White, Paul George, Jayson Tatum, and Mitchell Robinson.
Walsh's primary responsibility in the starting unit is point-of-attack defense, which helps free up George to operate as an off-ball defensive playmaker. Through four games, Walsh is averaging 6.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per contest, emphasizing that team success and championship contention outweigh his individual offensive output.
