Luka Doncic knows European basketball about as well as any NBA superstar. And when it comes to the league’s plans for NBA Europe, the Lakers star sees one fairly obvious problem.
Luka Doncic has questioned the feasibility of introducing an NBA Europe competition alongside existing continental tournaments. Speaking to Sports Illustrated, the superstar stated that running EuroLeague, EuroCup, and NBA Europe simultaneously would create too many leagues and argued that Europe should feature only one primary league.
His remarks follow continued efforts by the NBA and FIBA to establish a European competition, despite EuroLeague shareholders reportedly rejecting an initial partnership proposal. Both organizations stated they believe cooperation could unify the European basketball ecosystem, while Doncic drew on his experience as a former Real Madrid and EuroLeague MVP.
