For the Lakers, who have installed Luka Doncic as the heir to LeBron James and rebuilt their roster around him, the early results in a 127-105 win over the Warriors were a promising sign of things to come.

Luka Doncic scored a game-high 28 points alongside Walker Kessler's 26 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 127-105 season-opening victory over the Golden State Warriors. Kessler, making his Lakers debut after an offseason sign-and-trade with the Utah Jazz, finished a perfect 12-for-12 from the field. Doncic also contributed eight rebounds and seven assists as the Lakers opened their season decisively at home.
Kessler became the first Laker since Wilt Chamberlain in 1969 to shoot 100% on at least 12 attempts, while also recording 10 dunks. Austin Reaves added 23 points for head coach JJ Redick's team. Stephen Curry led an undermanned Warriors squad with 23 points, but Golden State struggled after halftime while missing Jimmy Butler III, Kristaps Porzingis, and several other key contributors to injury.
