Jaden McDaniels, not a bad defender, inks $40M extension

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels has agreed to a one-year, $40 million contract extension, according to reporting by ESPN's Shams Charania. The deal extends his commitment to Minnesota, bringing his overall contract to four years and $124 million guaranteed. The extension was finalized on the eve of the 2026-27 NBA regular season.

According to details shared by his agent, Nima Namakian, the strategic deal preserves McDaniels' upside, allowing him to negotiate another extension by 2028 or enter unrestricted free agency in 2030. Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly rewarded the 26-year-old following a career-best campaign where he posted personal highs in points, assists, and shooting percentages.
