With opening night days away, the Minnesota Timberwolves trimmed their roster Saturday, cutting ties with a handful of young players.

The Minnesota Timberwolves waived five players on Saturday ahead of Monday's roster deadline and their regular-season opener against the Miami Heat. Guard Antonio Reeves and forwards Enrique Freeman, KJ Martin, Norchad Omier, and Drew Timme were all cut from the roster following the team's preseason finale against the Chicago Bulls.
The roster moves leave Minnesota with 16 players ahead of their opening game. Martin was the most experienced player released, having appeared in 309 NBA games across his career, while players including Isaiah Evans, Cody Williams, and Zyon Pullin secured spots on the squad.
