Thunder’s Jared McCain Reveals Unexpected Conversation With Mark Daigneault Before Playoff Breakthrough

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Jared McCain shared details about an unexpected conversation with head coach Mark Daigneault during the postseason. Speaking on The Old Man and the Three podcast, McCain explained that he originally expected to merely observe and learn from the sidelines. However, after the Thunder's playoff series against the Phoenix Suns, Daigneault informed McCain that he was planning to insert him into the rotation.

McCain humorously recalled telling a slightly confused Daigneault that "it's going to be up" when asked if he was ready. Although he admitted to feeling some nerves regarding the pressure of playoff basketball, the young guard described the postseason playing experience as the most fun he had ever had.
