Micah Nori is acing his first-year coaching audition with the Blazers

Reese Kunz of Rip City Project writes that Portland Trail Blazers head coach Micah Nori is excelling early in his tenure, leading the team to a 5-1 start. Despite having 28 years of NBA experience, Nori accepted an unconventional three-year deal structured with team options in the second and third seasons. Kunz argues that Nori is proving to be the right hire despite working under challenging circumstances.

The writer notes that Nori has improved Portland's defensive rebounding and turnover issues while maximizing a roster constructed by general manager Joe Cronin. Kunz highlights roster parallels to Nori's former team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, including center Donovan Clingan and wing Toumani Camara. The piece suggests Nori's strong start could place him in early contention for Coach of the Year honors.
