The Sacramento Kings don’t have much to play for this season, but Ben Simmons‘ return is one story that every fan will be following over the next few weeks and months.
Ben Simmons stated that taking a full year away from basketball was the best decision of his career, enabling him to recover physically and mentally. The three-time All-Star did not play a single game last season following difficult stints with the Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets, and Los Angeles Clippers. After impressing scouts during a summer workout, Simmons signed with the Sacramento Kings ahead of the upcoming NBA season.
Simmons told NBC Sports California that he needed the break to get his back healthy and step away from external criticism. Fadeaway World reports that Simmons has impressed coaches during training camp and could potentially earn a starting role for the Kings by opening night after displaying promising flashes in preseason action.
