As the NBA regular season gets set to kick off, training camp and the practice scrimmages are already causing massive ripples throughout the league. Two of the big Western Conference clubs have had their early season plans upended by injuries…
Sacramento Kings guard Ben Simmons suffered a season-ending torn right Achilles tendon during a team scrimmage on Sunday, October 18, and will undergo surgery. The injury curtails his NBA comeback after signing a one-year deal in September following past back surgeries. Meanwhile, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry was seen limping during an open practice at Chase Center ahead of their season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and team reports later clarified that Curry sustained a mild right ankle tweak rather than a knee issue. Although Kerr indicated Curry was fine after being evaluated in the training room, his official status for the Warriors' opener remains unconfirmed as the medical staff manages his recovery.
