The Australian Kings player will miss the season that is about to begin
Sacramento Kings player Ben Simmons has suffered a torn Achilles tendon in his right leg during a five-on-five practice session. The 30-year-old Australian will undergo surgery and is expected to miss the entire upcoming NBA season. The injury occurs right as Simmons prepared to make his return, having not played in an official game since April 13, 2025.
Simmons had impressed the Kings throughout training camp and preseason, averaging 10.5 points in 17.5 minutes across two exhibition games. In a public statement, Simmons described the injury as another chapter in his journey rather than the end of his career, vowing to overcome the latest setback in his career.
