The San Antonio Spurs had a forgettable start to the season, losing 116-104 to the OKC Thunder.

Victor Wembanyama faced heavy criticism from NBA fans on social media after shooting 1-of-13 from the field during the San Antonio Spurs' 116-104 season-opening loss to the OKC Thunder. The center missed 12 consecutive shots in what marked the worst shooting performance of his NBA career, finishing with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Ten of Wembanyama's 12 points came from the free-throw line during his 34 minutes on the court. Despite the difficult outing, Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson refused to single out his star player, stating that the entire team struggled equally during the defeat.
