The Washington Wizards traded for Deandre Ayton this offseason and will quickly learn exactly why he’s bounced around the NBA.

Wiz of Awes argues that the Washington Wizards will soon experience the inconsistency and frustration that led three previous teams to move on from Deandre Ayton. The Wizards acquired the 28-year-old center from the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Jaden Hardy and two second-round draft picks to serve as a backup behind Anthony Davis and Alex Sarr.
The writer notes that Ayton opted into an $8.1 million player option and will be an unrestricted free agent after the season. Watts cautions that Ayton's drive for a larger offensive role and a new contract could cause friction if he grows unhappy playing limited minutes off the bench under head coach Brian Keefe.
