With veteran tight end Cole Kmet out for the rest of the season, the Bears are confident that rookie third-round pick Sam Roush will help fill the void.

The Chicago Bears expect rookie tight end Sam Roush to step into an expanded role following a season-ending knee injury to veteran Cole Kmet. Head coach Ben Johnson expressed confidence in the third-round draft pick, who serves as the primary backup behind starter Colston Loveland after showing continuous improvement through the season's first seven weeks.
In addition to Roush's elevated responsibilities, defensive end Montez Sweat returned to the team following a two-game NFL suspension. The Bears also officially signed running back and core special teams contributor Zavier Scott to the 53-man roster on Tuesday after exhausting his practice squad elevations.
