Bears general manager Ryan Poles has been trying to replace Khalil Mack ever since he traded him in his first couple months on the job. It’s time to bring him back. The Bears have needed pass rushing all season, but they…
Chicago Sun-Times writer Jason Lieser argues that the Chicago Bears should pursue a trade to reacquire edge rusher Khalil Mack from the winless Los Angeles Chargers. With defensive end Montez Sweat facing a two-game suspension and Dayo Odeyingbo sidelined by a quadriceps injury, Lieser contends that Chicago urgently requires pass-rushing reinforcements to sustain its contention hopes before facing the Atlanta Falcons.
According to Lieser, acquiring the 35-year-old Mack on an expiring contract would likely cost a fourth- or fifth-round draft pick and require approximately $5.8 million in salary-cap space, which fits within Chicago's available cap room. While noting alternative targets like Josh Sweat and K'Lavon Chaisson, the writer views Mack as the ideal cultural and financial fit.
