Rome Odunze felt like a great pick when the Chicago Bears grabbed him 9th overall in 2024. He’d been a star for Washington in college. He had that ideal blend of size, speed, and route-running skill. On top of that…

Writer Erik Lambert argues that the Chicago Bears' decision to draft wide receiver Rome Odunze ninth overall in 2024 is looking much better. The shift in perspective follows news that the Arizona Cardinals are trading Marvin Harrison Jr., alongside injury issues for Malik Nabers. Lambert also notes that other receivers from the 2024 draft class, such as Brian Thomas Jr., Xavier Legette, and Ricky Pearsall, have struggled to sustain strong production.
Meanwhile, Odunze has shown improved efficiency in 2026 under head coach Ben Johnson, raising his catch rate to 70% and recording 233 yards through four games. Lambert contends that if Odunze maintains this pace, he could achieve a career-high yardage total and position himself for a long-term contract extension.
