Ja’Marr Chase sends strong statement after getting fined for his ‘people’s elbow’ celebration

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase and teammate Tee Higgins were fined a combined $89,556 by the NFL for an alleged obscene catch celebration during their Week 2 game against the Houston Texans. The league reportedly interpreted the gesture as phallic after the duo celebrated multiple catches by gripping an elbow and unfurling an arm.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Chase explained the gesture was a wrestling-inspired 'people's elbow' celebration they created. He voiced frustration over league fines, also referencing a fine given to San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk, and called for NFLPA intervention.
