Brian Schottenheimer's losing record and risk of being fired mid-season could make him a rarity among Cowboys head coaches.

Jess Haynie of The Landry Hat argues that Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer is facing growing pressure following a blowout loss in Green Bay that dropped the team to 2-4. The writer notes that if owner Jerry Jones fires Schottenheimer mid-season, he would become just the second head coach in franchise history to suffer that fate after Wade Phillips was dismissed midway through 2010.
Haynie believes a mid-season dismissal remains less likely because Dallas lacks an obvious in-house interim successor and remains in contention within a weak NFC East. However, the writer emphasizes that without a significant turnaround, Schottenheimer also risks joining Dave Campo as the only Cowboys head coaches to finish their tenures with losing records and zero playoff appearances.
