Week 9 NFL Defense Rankings: Steelers, Packers, Bears and 49ers Rise; Fantasy Defense Rankings This Week

Matt Johnson of Sportsnaut published his Week 9 NFL defense rankings following Week 8 action, highlighting rising performances from the Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, and San Francisco 49ers. The Minnesota Vikings retained the top overall ranking, bolstered by Andrew Van Ginkel's 2.5 sacks against the Detroit Lions, while the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos followed in second and third place, respectively.

The rankings also note notable defensive developments, including the Chicago Bears climbing to eleventh after acquiring defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, who made his team debut. Meanwhile, several other units saw shifts due to injuries and form, such as the Los Angeles Rams sliding due to cornerback concerns and the Carolina Panthers moving on from defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero.
