Greg Newsome II could star in one of those Mastercard commercials where he delivers the slogan that playing in the right defensive scheme is the “priceless” thing that money can’t buy.

Cornerback Greg Newsome II has excelled since signing a one-year, $8 million contract with the New York Giants, prioritizing defensive scheme fit over larger financial offers in free agency. Playing in coordinator Dennard Wilson's defense, Newsome has emerged as a primary cornerback and leader. Opposing quarterbacks have posted a 57.2 passer rating against him through four games, completing just 14 of 26 passes with one interception.
Newsome's strong play, along with contributions from Deonte Banks and safety Jevon Holland, has propelled the secondary during back-to-back victories. The Giants next face the Washington Commanders, where Newsome is anticipated to match up against wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
