A group of young linemen has helped transform the Vikings' defense into one of the league's best units this season.

The Minnesota Vikings' young defensive line has established a group identity nicknamed 'Young Nasty University,' led by players including Domonique Orange, Ty Ingram-Dawkins, and Caleb Banks. The defensive front helped Minnesota start the season by limiting the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears to 3.8 yards per carry over the opening two weeks while leading the NFL in pressure rate.
Minnesota is spending just $8.43 million on its defensive line in 2026, ranking as the second-lowest total across the NFL. Edge rusher Andrew Van Ginkel credited the group's early success to hard work and coachability under defensive coordinator Brian Flores, with experienced contributors Jalen Redmond and Levi Drake Rodriguez providing key development roles.
