Rebirth: An oral history of the play that helped revive a city

On September 25, 2006, the New Orleans Saints marked the reopening of the Superdome following Hurricane Katrina with a 23-3 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Early in the first quarter, Steve Gleason blocked a punt by Atlanta's Michael Koenen, which Saints cornerback Curtis Deloatch recovered in the end zone for a touchdown.

Marking the 20th anniversary of the historic play, teammates reflected on the iconic moment that remains immortalized in bronze outside the stadium. Gleason later revealed an ALS diagnosis on the game's fifth anniversary, while Deloatch, Bryan Scott, Terrance Copper, Lance Moore, Nate Lawrie, and Rob Ninkovich were among those involved.
