Josh Downs has reportedly requested a trade, and the Giants should weigh his slot fit against a limited supply of draft picks.

Alexander Wilson argues that the New York Giants should inquire about Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs following reports that Downs requested a trade. According to an ESPN report by Jeremy Fowler relayed by NFL.com, Downs asked for a trade, though there is no indication New York has made contact or that Indianapolis has agreed to move him.
Wilson suggests Downs could provide quarterback J.J. McCarthy another reliable target following Calvin Austin's season-ending injury. However, Wilson notes a potential trade only makes sense at a modest cost, as Downs is in the final year of his rookie contract and New York must manage its limited draft capital and existing snap distribution.
