The Story in 60 Seconds

Danette Colbert has been convicted of negligent homicide and racketeering following the death of 27-year-old Telemundo sports reporter Adan Manzano in New Orleans ahead of Super Bowl LIX. Colbert's accomplice, Rickey White, was also convicted of racketeering, though he was cleared of manslaughter charges. The Jefferson Parish district attorney identified the pair as operating a scheme targeting tourists by drugging and robbing them in hotel rooms.

An autopsy revealed Manzano died from a fatal mix of alcohol, sedatives, and positional asphyxia after suffocating in a pillow. Colbert subsequently stole Manzano's belongings, used his credit card, and recorded videos inside the hotel room while he lay dying or dead. Both defendants are scheduled to be sentenced on September 28.
