St. Louis Blues forward Alexey Toropchenko exited the team's season opener against the Dallas Stars early in the second period due to an apparent shoulder injury. The incident occurred behind the Blues' net following consecutive hits from Stars players Lian Bichsel and Tyler Seguin. St. Louis ultimately earned a 4-0 road victory on Friday night.
Following the game, Blues head coach Jim Montgomery characterized Toropchenko's condition as an upper-body injury and described his status as "more than day-to-day." Montgomery noted that Toropchenko had not yet undergone an MRI, with more information expected before their next matchup in Colorado.
