Boston Bruins defenceman Nikita Zadorov has been fined $5,000 for roughing Chicago Blackhawks blueliner Alex Vlasic, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced Sunday. The fine represents the maximum allowable amount under the collective bargaining agreement. The incident occurred during the second period of Saturday's game when Zadorov struck a defenceless Vlasic during a scrum near centre ice.
Following the altercation, Zadorov was taken down by Ryan Donato, assessed a 10-minute misconduct, and ejected from the contest, which Boston eventually won 5-4 in overtime. The 31-year-old defenceman currently leads the NHL in penalty minutes with 47 across 14 games this season.
