Peyton Krebs received a four-year contract extension from the Sabres during the offseason, but Buffalo's coaching staff keeps using him in baffling ways.

Writer Tim Daniels argues that the Buffalo Sabres must stop trying to deploy forward Peyton Krebs as a top-six playmaker and power-play contributor. Despite signing a four-year, $18 million extension over the offseason, the 25-year-old Krebs has recorded only 134 points across 380 career NHL games, which Daniels contends illustrates that his offensive ceiling is being overestimated by Buffalo's coaching staff.
Daniels believes head coach Lindy Ruff should shift Krebs to a fourth-line energy role alongside Sam Carrick and Beck Malenstyn while utilizing him on the penalty kill. The piece warns that keeping Krebs in the middle six limits opportunities for more offensively gifted young talent like Jiri Kulich, which will only cause further roster complications once injured forward Jason Zucker returns.
