Days after being placed on waivers by the Calgary Flames, Connor Zary has cleared and joined the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers, practicing with the team on Wednesday.

Calgary Flames forward Connor Zary has joined the AHL's Calgary Wranglers after clearing waivers, participating in his first practice on Wednesday. The 25-year-old admitted he was surprised and disappointed to be placed on waivers just a couple of games into the regular season. He described the tense 24-hour waiting process on his couch as an emotionally difficult experience before finally clearing.
Zary skated on a line with Dryden Hunt and William Stromgren during Wednesday's practice, aiming to rebuild his confidence. A former 2020 first-round pick, Zary previously dealt with multiple knee injuries and saw reduced playing time last season. After tallying one assist in his opening two appearances this season, he is now focused on taking things day by day in the AHL.
