The Calgary Flames have called up forwards Aydar Suniev and Jonathan Castagna from the AHL's Calgary Wranglers to boost their offensive production. The move came on Wednesday following transactions where forward Connor Zary and defenseman Brayden Pachal cleared waivers to join the AHL affiliate. Head coach Ryan Huska now has additional roster options after the team managed just three goals in their first three games.
Castagna, who was acquired in the Mackenzie Weegar trade, earned his recall after scoring two goals in his first two games with the Wranglers. Suniev, who registered one assist in two AHL games after an impressive preseason, returns to the Flames looking to solidify a permanent role in the NHL lineup.
