The Carolina Hurricanes have reassigned defense prospect Noel Fransen to the AHL's Chicago Wolves to begin his North American professional career. Carolina also formalized the minor-league reassignments of Skyler Brind'Amour, Aleksi Heimosalmi, Juha Jaaska, Pierre-Olivier Joseph, and Justin Robidas after all five players cleared waivers. The roster moves leave the Hurricanes with 26 players remaining in training camp.
Fransen, a 2024 third-round pick, registered one assist in two preseason appearances for Carolina. With Alexander Nikishin unsigned, the Hurricanes are evaluating Charles-Alexis Legault, Mike Reilly, and Juuso Valimaki for opening-night defensive roles under head coach Rod Brind'Amour.
