The Blue Jackets have placed Mikael Pyyhtia on waivers, hoping to reassign him to the Cleveland Monsters now that he is healthy.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed 24-year-old forward Mikael Pyyhtia on waivers with the intention of assigning him to the AHL's Cleveland Monsters. Pyyhtia faced heavy roster competition alongside a lower-body injury during training camp, which limited his chances of securing a permanent spot on the NHL roster.
If he clears waivers, Pyyhtia will rejoin the Monsters after recording 48 points in 59 AHL games last season. Curtis Deem suggests that while Pyyhtia remains an elite AHL contributor, his inability to stick in Columbus across 71 career NHL games leaves his long-term NHL future uncertain.
