‘Nightmare’ Matthew Knies Praised by Blue Jackets’ Rick Bowness

Columbus Blue Jackets head coach Rick Bowness praised newly acquired winger Matthew Knies ahead of his team debut. Knies was acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs in a six-player trade that sent Kirill Marchenko to Toronto. Bowness highlighted Knies's mobility, size, and forechecking ability alongside physical forwards Valeri Nichushkin and Dmitri Voronkov.

Teammates also expressed excitement over the trade, with top-line center Adam Fantilli calling Knies a "nightmare" to face as an opponent. Bowness expressed confidence that the coaching staff will help Knies elevate his game to push the team forward.
