Jason Robertson (Jan. 1) and Drew Doughty (now) will be looking for extensions

Dallas Stars general manager Jim Nill plans to prioritize a contract extension for winger Jason Robertson, who becomes eligible for an extension on January 1, 2027. Robertson previously signed a one-year, $12 million contract after turning down a sign-and-trade to the Seattle Kraken and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, 37-year-old defenseman Drew Doughty is entering the final season of his contract with the Los Angeles Kings. Kings general manager Ken Holland indicated the team will evaluate Doughty's play during the 2026-27 season, with expectations that the sides could eventually agree on a two-year extension worth around $7 million per year before February 1.
