After a strong showing against the St. Louis Blues, 24-year-old Trey Taylor followed it up with another stellar performance. His penalty-killing ability was particularly noticeable in the first game, where he fended off nearly two minutes of a five-on-three.
The Dallas Stars secured a 2-0 preseason victory over the Minnesota Wild, highlighted by strong defensive and goaltending performances. Goaltender Rémi Poirier took the crease after scheduled starter Jake Oettinger was scratched shortly before puck drop, turning aside all 24 shots faced. Head coach Glen Gulutzan also commended the growth of 24-year-old defenseman Trey Taylor following another solid outing.
Returning Finnish winger Joel Kiviranta featured prominently on the penalty kill alongside Arttu Hyry, competing for fourth-line roles alongside Collin Blackwell and Oskar Bäck. While veteran Kyle Burroughs has also made an impression on defense, Taylor is expected to start the season in the AHL due to Dallas's salary cap situation.
