The New Jersey Devils have claimed goaltender Remi Poirier off waivers from the Dallas Stars following the netminder's strong preseason performance. Dallas placed the 24-year-old on waivers Sunday after he was unable to surpass Casey DeSmith for the primary backup role behind starting goaltender Jake Oettinger.
Poirier posted a 27-19-8 record with a 2.61 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage across 52 starts for the AHL's Texas Stars. During the preseason, Poirier stopped 35 of 36 shots across two appearances, including a shutout win over the Minnesota Wild, before heading to New Jersey.
