Oilers loan Damien Carfagna to Condors, place Matt Tomkins on waivers

The Edmonton Oilers announced roster moves on Sunday, loaning 23-year-old defenseman Damien Carfagna to the AHL's Bakersfield Condors and placing goaltender Matt Tomkins on waivers for assignment purposes. The transactions come ahead of the NHL roster deadline on Monday, September 28, where teams must reduce their rosters to a maximum of 23 players.

Carfagna recorded 22 points in 66 AHL games last season following his collegiate career at Ohio State University. Tomkins posted a .904 save percentage in 42 games for Bakersfield in 2025-26 and currently sits fourth on the organization's goaltending depth chart behind Devon Levi, Tristan Jarry, and the injured Frederik Andersen.
