The Florida Panthers have placed forward MacKenzie Entwistle on waivers, a procedural move that points toward another season in the American Hockey League rather than a sudden opening on the NHL roster.
The Florida Panthers have placed 27-year-old forward MacKenzie Entwistle on waivers, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. The procedural move comes while Entwistle recovers from an undisclosed preseason injury, positioning him for an assignment to the AHL's Charlotte Checkers once cleared.
Entwistle is currently signed to a two-year, $1.63 million contract that keeps him with the Panthers organization through next season. Despite appearing in 193 NHL games earlier in his career with the Chicago Blackhawks, he has played exclusively for Charlotte since joining Florida.
