Matthew Tkachuk scored in the third period as the Florida Panthers secured a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night. However, Florida forward Brad Marchand suffered a left leg injury with under a minute remaining after receiving a high stick from Kings defenseman Brandt Clarke and awkwardly striking the post.
Alex Laferriere initially gave Los Angeles the lead late in the first period off a pass from Erik Haula. Florida responded in the second period with an equalizing goal from Seth Jones, while goaltender Jacob Markstrom stopped 19 shots to hand the Kings their third straight loss to open the season.
