Plus And Minuses From The Ontario Reign’s Opening Week

The Ontario Reign split their opening home-and-home series against the Coachella Valley Firebirds, delivering a mix of strengths and weaknesses according to Hockey Royalty. Second-year pro Jared Wright impressed by scoring two goals, including an overtime winner, while the team managed eight goals across two contests despite overcoming multi-goal deficits in their first game.

However, Hockey Royalty highlights severe defensive and discipline issues, as the Reign conceded 11 goals and struggled heavily on special teams. The penalty kill allowed Coachella Valley to convert on five of eight opportunities, while Ontario's power play went just 2-for-11 amid persistent zone entry struggles.
