Washington Capitals forward Pierre-Luc Dubois missed his third consecutive game due to an illness, sitting out the contest against the Montreal Canadiens. With Dubois unavailable, the Capitals shifted Dylan Strome into the first-line center spot alongside Alex Tuch and Tom Wilson. Dubois had recorded four points in his first four games of the season prior to falling ill.
Additionally, Capitals defenseman Matt Roy remained sidelined day-to-day with a lower-body injury, having been placed on injured reserve on Monday with Justin Holl recalled in his place.
