The Minnesota Wild are finally seeing some familiar faces return, and Filip Gustavsson is among the players making progress. That’s good news for a team that has dealt with its share of injuries. But there’s an interesting wrinkle developing in…

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson is progressing from offseason hip surgery and is expected to travel for the team's next three road games. Although he is not yet ready for game action, his return is approaching faster than anticipated. His impending comeback creates a goaltending dilemma for Minnesota due to the strong play of young netminder Jesper Wallstedt, who has started 15 of the team's first 17 games.
Despite injuries to key players, the Wild opened the season with an 11-3-3 record to share the Western Conference lead with Edmonton. Along with Gustavsson, injured regulars Brock Faber, Jared Spurgeon, Nick Foligno, and Marcus Foligno have returned to practice. Head coach John Hynes noted that returning players are not guaranteed their previous regular spots automatically.
