The Wild defenseman tied a historic eight-game assist streak on Thursday, putting him one game away from the all-time NHL record while anchoring Minnesota’s high-octane blue line.

Minnesota Wild defenseman Quinn Hughes extended his season-opening assist streak to eight games on Thursday against the St. Louis Blues. By doing so, Hughes tied Filip Kuba for the second-longest season-opening assist streak by a defenseman in NHL history.
Hughes also surpassed Andrew Brunette for the longest season-opening point streak in franchise history. He sits just one game away from tying John-Michael Liles' all-time NHL record of a nine-game assist streak to begin a season.
