The Montreal Canadiens might have gotten a golden opportunity to improve their roster with recent news that Nikita Kucherov has requested a trade.
Brandon Croce of A Winning Habit argues that the Montreal Canadiens should aggressively pursue a trade for Tampa Bay Lightning captain Nikita Kucherov. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that Kucherov, who is in the final year of his contract, informed the Lightning organization that he will not re-sign and has requested a trade.
Croce suggests Kucherov would be an ideal fit on Montreal's top line alongside Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. While Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes has struggled to acquire other top forwards, Croce believes Montreal has the young talent to appeal to the 33-year-old winger.
