The Montreal Canadiens have emerged as a prominent subject in NHL trade rumors as they explore potential blockbuster opportunities early in the season. Reports and analysts have linked the organization to multiple high-profile players to address roster needs, including Detroit Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin and defenseman Simon Edvinsson, Calgary Flames defenseman Zach Whitecloud, and Winnipeg Jets center Mark Scheifele.
According to Frank Seravalli, Montreal is viewed by an NHL executive as a prime contender capable of meeting Detroit's asking price for Larkin, though Montreal reportedly remains off his destination list. Meanwhile, Bleacher Report's Adam Gretz suggested Scheifele could fill Montreal's need for a second-line center, while the team currently holds a 1-2-1 record amid a three-game losing skid.
